Markham’s beautiful neighbourhoods are a source of pride for all of us who live in this thriving, diverse community. Each of us must do our part to make sure that our neighbouhoods continue to be attractive , healthy and safe places to live. The Property Standard Bylaw 2017-26 and Keep Markham Beautiful (Maintenance) Bylaw 2017-27 help us do that by setting out the standards for the property and municipal boulevards within Markham. This includes picking up after our dogs. Animal Control Bylaw 2018-91 3.6 states excrement must be removed immediately from public and private property. Please contact us for more information.
The No Disposing or Dumping Bylaw 126-76 prohibits, regulates and inspects the use of land for dumping or disposing garbage, household and or industrial waste of any kind. Every person who contravenes any provision of this bylaw is guilty of an offence and upon conviction is liable to a fine of up to $2000.
Both the Ward 5 Office and the Contact Centre receive countless complaints for long weeds and grass and dumping on the roadsways, in construction sites, in our parks. Our Bylaw Officers work hard to investigate every complaint and issue orders. Please lets work together to keep our properties, parks, roadways clean. Dumping costs all of us even in construction sites- take your items not collected at the curb to Miller Transfer Station, Household Hazardous Waste or one of the recycling centres. When in doubt check it out- what goes where!
Thank you!
