Cornell Community Park Construction Notice

We’re very pleased to announce that construction of the new Cornell Community Park will begin shortly. This construction activity will begin with the removal of fill from the Park site, scheduled to begin in mid-October 2019. Removal of the fill is anticipated to take a minimum 4 weeks to complete. Suzanne Smoke (Ginew Kwe, Golden Eagle Woman), a member of Mississauga’s of Rice Lake, Alderville First Nation, and her daughter, Cedar Smoke. Good news for Ward 5 GO Train commuters

GO Transit has just announced improved train service to Markham Ward 5, making it easier for commuters to get home on weekday evenings. On the Stouffville Line – beginning June 29th, every weeknight will now be extended to serve Centennial, Markham and Mount Joy GO stations. While this trip replaces existing bus service, a GO bus at Mount Joy GO will connect customers to Lincolnville GO and Stouffville GO stations. Over the last few months there have been a number of incidents of car break-ins, spray painted graffiti on private property, and more recently mail boxes being broken into in the Cornell community. The good news is that York Regional Police have made a number of arrests of individuals likely connected to some of these crimes, and they are continuing to investigate these incidents. Status of Cornell Community Park

The residents of Cornell have been waiting a very long time for the large Cornell Community Park (CCP) to be completed. As many residents know, the original target date for Phase 1, was scheduled for fall of this year (2019). A number of factors have contributed to the delays.
