More great and welcome news

As most Ward 5 residents know, the Cornell Community Centre was used as a vaccination clinic. It was the largest mass vaccination clinic in York Region, operated by staff and physicians from Oak Valley Health (Markham Stouffville Hospital), community service groups and local family physicians from the Eastern York Region North Durham Ontario Health Team. For the past 13 months, the team administered over 270,000 vaccinations. This included first, second, third and fourth doses to eligible children, youth, adults and seniors.

This is quite an achievement and the collaboration between local partners to be able to deliver protection through vaccination to our health care workers, their families and our broader communities is commendable. We received incredible feedback from people who were proud of the City for partnering with the Oak Valley to host the clinic, also feedback for how efficient vaccines were administered.

Vaccination clinic officially closed on March 26th

Now our City staff are in the midst of getting the building ready for reopening. It’s time to open the doors and get back at it, and I have been pushing for the last few months to reopen as soon as possible.

I would like to thank all Ward 5 residents for their patience and support of the extended closure and I look forward to announcing when the doors will open. I hope to see you on the opening day to welcome you back very soon, likely by the end of this April.

Stay tuned for the opening date.
