Have you seen the Blessed Frederick Oznam Community Outreach garden lately? It is gorgeous and twice so far, donations to families in the area have been made. Kale, swiss chard, zucchini, herbs and other delicious produce grown and cared for by Ward 5 residents for Ward 5 residents! What could be better.
If you have not been by, please walk over to Bur Oak and White’s Hill, have a look at the incredible allotments, about 30 in total, growing so many different kinds of fruits and vegetables. Also stay tuned, there will be a harvest event in September (with safety in mind and protocols in place) but what a wonderful idea to get together, six feet apart, to share in the amazing efforts.
Thank you to all who are volunteering, tending gardens for your own family use and also to the residents around the garden for your support…as Margaret Mead once said:
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.
A perfect sentiment about the residents of Ward 5!
