Effective Monday, March 1, York Region residents age 80+, or their caregivers on their behalf of the York Region resident age 80+, can book an appointment for their COVID-19 vaccine.

We are not able to book any appointments for this priority group before Monday, March 1. Pre-registration is not required. Please remain patient over the next couple of days as we finalize these booking details.

An expanded list of health care workers are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in York Region.

The Very High Priority category, as set by the Ministry of Health’s guidance on Health Care Worker Prioritization includes front-line workers in the following sectors and settings:

  • Acute care and other hospital settings: patient care areas not included in Highest Priority such as surgical care, obstetrics, etc.
  • Congregate settings: assisted living, correctional settings, residential facilities, hospices and palliative care settings, shelters, supportive housing (outside of Highest Priority level)
  • Community care with high risk of exposure and serving specialized patient populations: Community Health Centres, home and community care – outside of the Highest Priority level, adult day programs for seniors
  • Other heath care services for Indigenous populations: community agencies with patient-facing providers delivering any type of health services to First Nations communities and Indigenous Peoples that are not captured in Highest Priority
  • Community care with high risk of exposure and serving the general population: birth centres, community based specialists, death investigation professionals, dentistry, gynecology/obstetrics, midwifery, nurse practitioner-led clinics/contract nursing agencies, otolaryngology (ENT), pharmacies, primary care, respirology (respiratory therapy), walk-in clinics
  • Laboratory services
